Do you ever look at your laundry room and feel like the functionality is all wrong? Or is your laundry room on the smaller side and you need more space? I have the perfect list for you! These 6 tips are perfect for space that is challenged in the organization department. They are also awesome for bringing a dull laundry room back to life.
- Add a behind the door rack – This tip is really helpful for laundry rooms that lack space. You can put all sorts of items in a door rack (stain removers, lint rollers, dryer sheets, cleaning products, etc). They are out of the way and not visible to people passing by.
- Hang up your ironing board – When items all have a home, a room tends to look more thought out and organized. Ironing boards are bulky and if left leaning against a wall can get in the way or topple over. All you need is a free wall and some fun hooks.
- Slim rolling laundry cart – I saw one of these carts in a magazine a few years ago and immediately got one for my own laundry room. Most folks have a small unused space between their washer and dryer. With this handy rolling cart, you are able to load it up and then simply push it out of sight between your appliances. They are functional, add quite a bit of organization and they look cool – all in one shot! Just make sure you measure your space before purchasing one to ensure it fits.
- Create a lint box – Lint is one of those items that you don’t typically think about once you toss, but lint can be used as an awesome fire starter for an outdoor fire pit or when you are camping. We attached a fun little wall box to our next to the dryer and deposit all of the lint from the dryer in it. You can decorate these boxes however you like plus, it’s really nice knowing that I’m not just throwing it all away.
- Add some counter tops or shelves – If your laundry room space does not have either of these, I’m not sure how you’re getting by. Counter tops are great for items that need to be folded on site, set on to dry or they can be used for a drip dry catching surface. You can use them for storage or just to place something pretty on adding a more refined look to your laundry room.
- Add some bins, baskets or containers – We use a variety of baskets in our laundry room to help organize and sort laundry (both dirty and clean). Containers help keep things moving efficiently and add a bit of hobo chicness to a laundry room. Along with baskets we like to use labels to help the younger ones in our family participate in the sorting.
And there you have it! 6 simple, useful tips to help kick your laundry up a couple of notches!
